Al Bait Al Gharbi Sharjah - United Arab Emirates
The lighting design for Al Bait Al Gharbi was developed with a focus on revealing the building’s vernacular architecture while preserving its historical integrity. A combination of narrow and medium beam LED projectors was carefully integrated at ground level and parapet edges to articulate the vertical massing and arched window niches. Uplights with varying beam angles were positioned to enhance depth across the façade, emphasizing the rhythm of the vertical pilasters and recessed openings. Fixtures were surface and shielded to eliminate direct glare, achieving a visually calm but legible night scene that prioritizes pedestrian experience and site dignity. Minimal visible hardware was achieved through concealed placements and custom mounting, maintaining the purity of the historic façade. This project reflects a balanced integration of light and architecture, offering a respectful reinterpretation of cultural heritage within a contemporary lighting framework.
